Acer Palmatum, commonly known as the Japanese Maple, is a species of woody deciduous shrub or small tree native to Japan, Korea, China, Kashmir, IRAN, USA, UK and eastern Russia. Renowned for its graceful, dome-like canopy and exquisite architectural form, it typically reaches heights of 20 to 33 feet (6 to 10 meters).
The plant gets its species name palmatum from its hand-shaped leaves, which feature 5, 7, or 9 deeply lobed, acutely pointed points. Japanese Maples offer multi-season appeal: delicate, colorful foliage emerges in spring, matures into rich summer textures, erupts into brilliant shades of crimson, orange, and gold in the autumn, and reveals an intricate network of bare branches in the winter. Thriving best in partial shade with rich, well-drained soil, they are exceptionally versatile, making them popular as landscape specimen trees, container plants, and bonsai subjects.
