Indigofera heterantha, commonly known as Himalayan Indigo or Himalayan Indigo flower plant, is a deciduous flowering shrub belonging to the family Fabaceae (Leguminosae). Native to the Himalayan region, it is widely distributed across Kashmir, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and western China. The shrub naturally grows on mountain slopes, forest margins, riverbanks, and rocky terrains at elevations ranging from approximately 1,500 to 3,500 meters above sea level.
The plant typically grows 1–3 meters tall, with graceful arching branches and attractive pinnate leaves. During late spring and summer, it produces dense clusters of vibrant pink to purplish-rose flowers that attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. These flowers are followed by slender seed pods containing several small seeds.
