Lepidium meyenii is an herbaceous biennial plant of the crucifer family native to the high Andes of Peru. It is also found in Kashmir at altitudes of 2000 to 3500 m, also cultivated in western Himalayas from Kishtwar to Sonamarag between 1800 m and 3500 m.
