Dong quai (Angelica sinensis) plant

Angelica sinensis, commonly known as dong quai or "female ginseng" is a herb from the family Apiaceae, indigenous to China. Angelica sinensis grows in cool high altitude mountains in China, Kashmir, Afghanistan,Iran,Japan and Korea.

Very useful for female problems such as hot flashes, menopause,PMS, and vaginal dryness. Increases the effect of ovarian/testicular hormones. Dong quai has the ability to regulate hormone imbalance because it contains phytoestrogens (a component that mimics or acts as an antagonist to estrogen).

Note:- Dang quai root is a chinese name. I believe there is no name for Angelica in Hindi or Sanskrit. There are actually a number of different angelica varieties, well over sixty.  Most do NOT have same benefits.

Oh, and don't confuse Angelica archangelica with Angelica Sinensis, another herb with medicinal properties that is popular in Chinese medicine.
