Kalonji spice Farming: A Profitable Spice Cultivation in India

Nigella Sativa Farming in Kashmir

Kalonji (Black Cumin) farming requires well-drained, organic-rich soil in a tropical or sub-tropical climate. Planting occurs from mid-September to mid-October, burying seeds about 1/8 inch deep and 4-6 inches apart. The crop needs minimal irrigation with the first watering immediately after sowing, and then based on soil moisture.

Regular weeding every 30 days helps control unwanted plants and improve yield. The plants mature in about 130-140 days, after which they are harvested by uprooting the entire plant.
